ET                : How long have you lived in Aceh?
Ms. Dinda : I’ve lived in Aceh for 9 years.

ET                : What do you like most in teaching English?
Ms. Dinda : What I like most about teaching English is seeing the dynamical situations within English learning process. It’s great to see my students work hard to improve their English abilities.

ET                 : What do you find as the most challenging thing in teaching English and how did you overcome it?
Ms. Dinda  : Some of the students are usually passive in our activities especially adult students. I overcame this issue by creating fun and supportive learning environment and cultivate the value of teamwork to my students so that all of the students will be able to involve. Besides, I also provide my students with interactive games and other forms of interactive activities.

ET                  : As we know, speaking is the biggest issue for most of English learners in Indonesia. As an English teacher, what are practical measures that you apply to your class in order to boost your students’ speaking skill?
Ms. Dinda   : My students are usually afraid to make mistakes when it comes to speaking. I always encourage them to not be afraid to make mistakes instead they need to learn from those mistakes and keep practicing. In addition, I also give new vocabulary to my students in every meeting so that they’ll be able to be more confident to speak English.

ET                 : Is there any activity that you give to your students to sharpen their critical thinking skills?
Ms. Dinda  : I often provide them with activities such as spot the difference, where they need to identify and point out differences in two identical pictures. This activity enables them to improve their critical thinking and analyzing skill.
