In this interview Mr. Niko , who has more than 15 years teaching experience, explains that English can easily be mastered with only 15 to 20 minutes per day.
Why do you choose teaching English as your career?
Teachers are the foundation of our nation’s future and we believe that by improving the English skills of our people we can develop Indonesia in this era of globalization.
What do you like most in teaching and giving training?
I like giving my students fun activities, so the students can learn collaboratively, communicatively and effectively. Activities such as interactive games and group discussions have been proven as the best method of teaching English for every level.
You used to teach at EF for Adults, what made you leave that job and join English Today?
I wanted a job that had more time flexibility, bigger challenges and also a room to improve my potential. Therefore, English Today was the right provider for me. The English Today movement really empowers teachers to challenge themselves which gives learners better results in less time and ensures that they enjoy the learning journey.
What do you find challenging in teaching and how do you overcome it?
When students communicate using bahasa Indonesia. I overcome this by making rules that we are not allowed to use Bahasa Indonesia in the class while as a group we drill each other with new English vocabulary. This quickly boosts their English skills.
How long have you been teaching English?
I have been teaching English for approximately 15 years.
What are three ways to be successful in learning English?
In my opinion, three ways to be successful in learning English are practice your English skills every day, at least 15 to 20 minutes per day, listen to music and read English books, novels and articles to get new vocabulary.
