Why did you choose teaching English as your career?

I have been interested in English since I was in the Elementary school, and I enjoy any teaching activities. By doing what I like and teaching the language I’ve been interested in, it is a perfect choice of a career.

How long have you been teaching?

I have been teaching English since 2014, as an English private teacher, as an English teacher in the internship programs both in junior and senior high schools, as an English lecturer in University of Bengkulu, and currently teaching at Kampung Inggris Rafflesia, Bengkulu.

What do you like most in teaching and giving training?

Things I like the most in teaching English is when it comes to practice the students’ skill especially the speaking skill in a fun way by integrating the real-life activities.

What are the three ways to be successful in learning English?

  • Read English texts a lot. It will help you to understand the grammar and the language contexts, and enrich your vocabulary.
  • Listening to English songs. It helps you to improve your pronunciation and increase your vocabulary.
  • Practice. Practice your English anytime and anywhere. Moreover, do not be afraid to make mistakes when you are practicing your speaking.

What do you find challenging in teaching?

I find it challenging in teaching English when there are students in the same class with different backgrounds and lack of motivation in learning English. It is kind of hard yet challenging to build their confidence and to motivate them in learning English.
