Why did you choose to teach English as your career?
Because it is practical and rewarding. I wanted to make English easy to learn for others and help them to apply the knowledge that I have shared in their daily lives. When students can use the language, they have learned in class in their personal or professional lives this is a very empowering moment.
You have taught English at English First, one of the most renowned English courses in Indonesia. What made you decide to leave the job and join us at English Today?
English Today promotes working at what you are good at and what you love doing. There is no pressure to fail. In my opinion, English Today provides an inspirational working environment that encourages me to maximize my skills.
What do you like most about teaching English?
I like to make my students fully comprehend about how to apply English materials in their lives and get my students to break down the language barrier. I believe that learning English opens so many doors and opportunities for my students and that is something I am proud to be a part of. I like meeting my students and getting to know them and I like to help them to achieve their goals.
What do you find as the most challenging thing in teaching English and how did you overcome it?
The most challenging thing is when students are too quiet and do not want to engage. I have overcome this issue by reassuring them. Sometimes I need to take a step back and then take baby steps forward. Building a student’s confidence is sometimes the most important challenge that we need to overcome. I find that encouragement and support are the best ways to do this.
How long have you been teaching English?
I have been teaching English for more than 4 years. I love my job and am very happy working as an English Teacher.
